Wake up! It's a college tour!

Did you ever think a college tour could be so exciting? For me, being it's my first time on the college tour, it became an anxious experience. I woke up today to find a open eyed vision to my future as an adult. While visiting the first two colleges, Temple University in Philidelphia and Howard University in Washington DC, I've realized that these colleges are made for us. We, as students who are educated, need to take advantage. As I learned about the founders of both of these schools, I learned they made these colleges for a strong reason. The founder of Temple University, Russel Conwell, founded Temple for people who couldn't or were unable to attend school during the day. He made it convenient for people with jobs in the day time to still be able to succeed with a higher education. The founder at Howard, General Howard, founded this school for African Americans during the Reconstruction period. So General Howard did make a way for African Americans, although they were being discriminated and treated as animals when trying to get there education.

Hopefully, in closing, the young women of the college tour by the end of our 5 day journey, will have the knowledge that what they are learning in probably a Ms.Harris or a Ms. Blaize class really does make a difference, and it is just what might change the world.

- Mia.
